Graveside Service for Wilburn Henry Rogers, 87, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 29, 2024 at Northview Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Wilburn Henry Rogers was born on February 23, 1937, third of nine children, to Geneva (Taylor) Rogers and Earl Jay Rogers and passed away on April 25, 2024 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born in "the log cabin" on the banks of Sallisaw Creek where it runs into the Arkansas River. In 1960 he met the love of his life, Evelyn Jane "Polly" Asbill. They were married on October 17, 1961 in Stilwell, Oklahoma. They were married for 52 years, she preceded him in death on March 12, 2013 and he was lost without her.
Survivors are three sisters-in-law, Sue (Asbill) Osburn, who picked him up every Tuesday and took him to Sonic for a strawberry shake, popcorn chicken and french fries, then to Dollar Tree to shop, Jackie (Asbill) Rogers, who was his personal chauffeur, banker and barber, and Phyliss Pederson; one brother, Roy Wayne Rogers and Pamela of Sallisaw, OK; two brothers-in-law, Melvin Dee Asbill and Beverly of Liberty, OK and Jim Bordelon of La Place, LA; 25 nieces and nephews; countless other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by "his Polly"; his parents; five brothers, Vearl Dean, Garlen, Arlen, Marchel and Hubert; and two sisters, Velma Boyd and Anna Christine Bordelon.
Active Pallbearers will be Franklin Rogers, Jimmy Bordelon, Michael Rogers, Ashley Rogers, Casey Rogers, Christopher Ward, Joseph Ward, Josh Rogers and Caleb Rogers.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Cynthia (Rogers) Ward, Sharon Rogers, Brandon Hamilton and Curtis Eppler.
Viewing will be Noon - 6 PM Saturday and 2 - 8 PM Sunday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK where the family will greet 4 - 6 PM Sunday.
