Wendell Cannon

Cremation Service for Wendell Cannon, 62, of Roland, Oklahoma, is under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

He was born on February 29, 1964 in Texarkana, Arkansas to Mary Catherine (Watkins) Cannon and Clyde Laymon Cannon and passed away on July 27, 2026 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Wendell was a source of love and warmth to everyone who knew him. He was kind, generous, and soft-hearted. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by the many lives he touched.

Wendell was one of the hardest-working men you could ever meet. In the 1990s, he proudly became a business owner, opening Cannon Janitorial before later establishing Cannon Small Engine, a business that continues today as Palmer Small Engine. He took great pride in providing for his family and serving his community through honest work and dedication.

In 2002, Wendell began a new chapter with Roland Public Schools, first serving as a bus driver before moving into the maintenance department. For 17 years, until his retirement in 2019, he was known as someone who could fix just about anything and was always willing to lend a helping hand. No matter the job, Wendell approached it with humility, determination, and a commitment to doing it right.

Wendell found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved old cars, never missed an opportunity to watch The Dukes of Hazzard, and felt most at home riding four-wheelers and spending time outdoors. Whether he was exploring a trail, tinkering with an engine, or simply enjoying the fresh air, those moments brought him peace and happiness.

Above all else, Wendell's greatest love was his family. He adored his wife and cherished his three daughters, who were the center of his world. He loved being a Poppy to his four grandchildren. He also shared a special bond with his brother, as well as his many nephews and nieces, each of whom held a special place in his heart. He proudly gave many of them their very first jobs, teaching them the value of hard work, responsibility, and integrity through the example he lived every day. The lessons he passed on extended far beyond work—they were lessons about character, perseverance, and caring for others.

Wendell had a wonderful sense of humor and found happiness in making others laugh. He loved watching funny movies, and his laughter was so genuine and contagious that it was impossible not to laugh right along with him. His smile could brighten a room, and his gentle spirit made everyone feel welcome.

His legacy lives on through the love he shared, the memories he created, the businesses he built, the countless lives he influenced, and the unwavering example he set. Whether through a comforting word, a helping hand, or simply his quiet presence, Wendell had a way of making people feel valued and loved. Though our hearts are heavy with his loss, we find comfort in knowing that his love, his laughter, and the values he instilled in those around him will continue for generations. He will be loved always, missed beyond words, and remembered forever.

Survivors are two daughters, Wendi Woudstra and Matt of Muldrow, OK and Priscilla Mitcham and Randy of Fort Towson, OK; four grandchildren, Audrey, Corbin, Isley, and Oliver; one brother, William Lee Cannon and Kelly of Roland, OK; and several other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Angie; and one daughter, Angela Renea Unangst.
