Velma (Sutton) Hneson Depue, 93, of Muldrow, Oklahoma, passed away on January 28, 2026, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born on February 23, 1932, to Artie and George Sutton. Velma was married to David E. Depue on October 1, 1988. He preceded her in death on March 18, 2006. She enjoyed a long career as a production worker at Whirlpool.
Velma is survived by her three daughters: Charlene Hoewt and Hans of Garfield, AR, Freda Martin and Bill of Barling, AR, and Vickie Henson and David Burnett of Avoka, AR. She also leaves behind her son, Gerald Henson and Carol of Nicut community, OK; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by her brother, George Sutton of Liberty community, OK, along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters, and three brothers.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 2, 2026, at 11:30 AM at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Muldrow. Velma will be laid to rest at Upper Camp Creek Cemetery. There will be a viewing on Sunday from 2 - 8 PM at the chapel, and the family will welcome friends one hour before the service on Monday.
