Graveside Service for Talmage Bergil "Mitch" Pack, 89, of Blackgum, Oklahoma, will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at Box Cemetery in Vian, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

He was born on October 17, 1936, in the Blackgum Community of Sequoyah County, Oklahoma, to Clarence Ralph Pack and Alice Elvie (Choate) Pack and passed away on October 10, 2026 in Gore, Oklahoma. He was married to Georgia Ann (Smith) Pack on July 11, 1963 in Blackgum, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on November 14, 1994. Talmage attended school in Blackgum before transferring to Vian High School, where he graduated in 1955. His senior class voted him: Most Handsome Boy, Most Courteous, and Most Behaved.

Mr. Pack honorably served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. After achieving the third-highest score in his battalion, he was selected for paramedic training.

Talmage, or "Mitch" as many knew him, was a carpenter by trade. He loved the outdoors and knew Sequoyah County and the surrounding areas like the back of his hand. A true "mountain man," he could survive off the land through hunting, fishing, and gathering, skills and knowledge he proudly passed down to his family. Even when he was no longer able to hunt, he still enjoyed feeding the birds and watching them come and go from his window. When the grandchildren came to visit, he loved teaching them how to call turkeys, hoot like owls, whistle like bobwhites, and howl like coyotes, preparing them from an early age for their own outdoor adventures.

Mitch was also quite the storyteller and enjoyed sharing tales of his hunting and fishing adventures, including his encounters with bears, bobcats, and rattlesnakes. He would often give Keith and Troy a hard time about carrying their big pistols, insisting that if he ever came across a bear, he would simply cut himself a switch. That was, of course, until the day he actually encountered one himself. After that, he changed his tune!

His love for the outdoors, his knowledge of the land, and the many stories he shared will remain treasured memories for his family for generations to come.

Survivors are three sons, Carl Wayne Pack and Shannon of Vian, OK, Lawrence Keith Pack and Ginger of Gore, OK, and Troy Mitchell Pack and Shannon of Blackgum, OK; two daughters, Teresa (Pack) Davis and Karl Joe of Blackgum, OK and Dianna (Pack) Harvell and Kevin of Blackgum, OK; 11 grandchildren, Kendra, Jessica Deloris, Kara, James, Joseph, Joshua, Michael, Brittany, Jessica Christine, Devin, and Gabriel; 21 great-grandchildren, Kenlea, Trevor, Abby, Axl, Lex, Knox, Breanna, Bailey, Aubrey, Georgia, Cannon, Anthony, Stormy, Logan, Leonidas, Nova, Peyton, Rose, Skyler, Sayler, and one on the way, Dean; four great-great-grandchildren, Cortlin, Caden, Krew Lynn, and Oliver; one sister, Elizabeth Kisselburg of Blackgum, OK; one brother, Kenneth Pack of Braggs, OK; and many other relatives and friends.
