Funeral service for Sidney Powell, 88 of Webbers Falls, Oklahoma will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Webbers Falls Assembly of God Church in Webbers Falls, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Gore Cemetery in Gore, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
He was born on May 12, 1935 in Webbers Falls, Oklahoma to Edna (Wright) Powell and John Powell and passed away on July 7, 2023 in Webbers Falls, Oklahoma. He was married to Dorothy Sue (Still) Powell on June 3, 1961 in Stilwell, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on May 12, 2023.
He attended Webbers Falls School graduating in 1956 and eventually becoming a school board member for over 16 years as well as coaching baseball.
On July 10, 1957, he joined the United States Army where he was a Rigger for the 82nd Airborne. After serving years in the U.S. Army, he later went on to join the United States Air Force.
After coming home from serving his country, he married the love of his life, Dorothy (Still) on June 3, 1961.
He began his career working at Davis Field then for the United States Army Corp of Engineers as a lock master at Lake Tenkiller then Webbers Falls Lock and Dam before retiring on October 11, 1990.
In his spare time, you would find him sitting under a shade tree, hunting, fishing, gardening, piddling in the barn, spoiling his grandchildren, watching westerns, watching his favorite football team Oklahoma Sooners or watching his favorite baseball team New York Yankees.
Survivors are son, Allen Powell and Amanda; daughter-in-law, Robyn Rodgers; grandchildren, Alex and Paula Powell, Brittany and Ty Sanders, Celeste Reaves, Tatum Powell, Stefanie Powell, Tyler Wooten, Waylon Wooten, Lyncoln Sanders Chase and Brittney Powell, Casey and Ethan Quick, and Alisha Vath; sisters-in-law, Cherokee Still, Freida Vann, Katie and Jim Taylor, Jerry Lynn and Geno Buchanan, Shirley and Tom Sutton; and an abundance of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; one son, Patrick Powell; two brothers, Ray Powell and Johnny Powell and grandsons, Hunter Reaves, Sidney Jay Powell, Patrick Lee Powell and Talon Summerlin.
Active Pallbearers will be Alex Powell, Allen Powell, Tyler Wooten, Chase Powell, Jaykob Taylor and Justin Mannon.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Taylor, Geno Buchanan, Tom Sutton, LD Clay, Terry Ward, Butch Cox and Jonathan Bray.
