Sidney Roger Blackburn, 82, of Muldrow, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on August 23 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Roger leaves behind a legacy of service, devotion, and steadfast care for his family and community.

Born to Carl Leslie Blackburn and Vera Blackburn, Roger lived a life grounded in hard work, faith, and love. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War, carrying that same sense of duty into his career as a skilled sheet metal fabricator. Throughout his life, he was known for his dependability, generosity, and willingness to help others.

A man of faith, Roger was a member of the Scottish Rite and Bruton Lodge #30. He also attended Mineral Springs Free Will Baptist Church.

Roger often put his skills to work helping others, including working on rental houses alongside his good friend and longtime buddy, Bobby Stewart. Away from work, he enjoyed watching NASCAR and could often be found at the ballfields or in the gym, proudly cheering on his granddaughters. He also shared a special bond with his beloved dog, Pistol Pete, whose companionship brought him great happiness.

For the last two years of his life, Roger lived at Fianna Hills Nursing Home, where he came to love the staff and caregivers like family. Their kindness, compassion, and care meant so much to him and his loved ones.

Roger cherished his brothers and sisters and the bonds they shared throughout their lives. He also held a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews and treasured time with his extended family.

Above all, Roger loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose presence will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Janice Blackburn; his daughter, Jamie Reynolds and her husband, Greg, of Muldrow; his granddaughters, Jarrah Sydney Caughman and her husband, Garret, of Muldrow, and Audrah Hall and her husband, Maison, of Tulsa; and his two great-grandsons, Parker and Denver Caughman. He is also survived by his brothers, Marvin Blackburn and his wife, Cleta, and Carl Blackburn of Melrose, New Mexico; his sisters, Evelyn Tollison and Margery Blackburn of Greenville, South Carolina; his nieces and nephews; and his extended family by marriage, including his sisters-in-law, Susie Baker and Jean Christopher; his special brother-in-law, Kenneth Bunt Christopher; and brother-in-law, Jesse Star Sims.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Leslie Blackburn and Vera Blackburn; his brothers, Martin Blackburn and his twin brother, Stanley Blackburn; and his sisters, Mariane Blackburn and Martha Blackburn Johnson.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 31, 2026 at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Muldrow, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Active Pallbearers will be Garret Caughman, Maison Hall, Blaine Christopher, Les Blackburn, Rutter Blackburn, Hayden Blackburn, and David Turner.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Greg Reynolds, Bobby Stewart, and Members of Bruton Lodge #30.

Viewing will be 2 - 8 PM Sunday at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Muldrow, OK where the family will greet 4 - 6 PM.

Roger will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, devotion to those closest to him, tireless work ethic, generous heart, and kindness toward everyone around him.
