Shirley Ann Burgess

Memorial Service for Shirley Ann Burgess, 47, of Roland, Oklahoma will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 18, 2019 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Muldrow, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

She was born on February 1, 1972 in Dallas, Texas to Teresa Terry Uresti and Jerry Elwood Cecil and passed away on October 13, 2019 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. She was married to James Burgess on January 8, 1999 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Shirley had her Master’s of Social Work from the University of Oklahoma and worked in hospice for 10 years. She fought a brave and courageous battle against ALS also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. She maintained her humor, her caring nature and strong faith up until the end.

Survivors are:

husband: James of the home;

nephew: Scott of the home;

sister: Viola Cecil of Norman, OK;

brother: Richard Cecil of Wilburton, OK

She was preceded in death by her parents, Teresa and Jerry and her sister, Maria.
