Shawn Ellis

Shawn Ellis, age 57, of Sallisaw Oklahoma, passed away suddenly at his home on July 12, 2020. Shawn was born on November 2, 1962 at Sequoyah Memorial Hospital in Sallisaw Oklahoma, the son of Pearlene (Fisher) Ellis and Joe Ronald Ellis. He graduated from Sallisaw High School in 1981. Shawn was a certified welder and worked in many fields, but most recently worked as a truck driver and an oil field FRAC hand.

Shawn loved working with his hands. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman although recent health conditions prevented him from active hunting. He was an excellent marksman and shooting enthusiast. Shawn loved sharing his knowledge of firearms and shooting with family and friends and was a staunch supporter of protecting and retaining the second amendment right to bear arms. Shawn was on a horse before he could walk. As a young man Shawn rodeoed and worked cattle on horseback with his family, friends and neighbors. He loved those early days of living the cowboy way.

Shawn was a devoted Christian, father, son, brother, fiancé and friend. Placing family as his first priority, Shawn’s decisions were based on what was best for his family with little consideration for himself with few the wiser. He loved meeting and exchanging ideas with people wherever he was. Shawn’s unguarded direct approach meant you always knew where you stood with him on any given subject. Shawn lived life to the fullest making friends along the way. Shawn Ellis loved and was loved. This world is a lesser place without him until we see him again in God’s embrace.

Survivors are:

fiancé: Becky Hoover of the home;

1 son: William Colton Ellis and fiancé, Mariah Harris of Gans, OK;

mother: Pearlene Ellis of Sallisaw, OK;

1 sister: Jolene Ellis of Sallisaw, OK;

1 brother: James Arthur Ellis and Angela of Sallisaw, OK;

nieces and nephews: Jamie Stamps, Haley Ellis and Dusty Joe Ellis;

several other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Ellis.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at Blue Ribbon Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
