She was born on February 11, 1928 in Brent community, Oklahoma to Fannie (Cox) Tootle and Charles Tootle and passed away on April 12, 2024 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. She was married to James Samuel Jackson on June 19, 1957 in Stilwell, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on July 5, 2004.
Sadie was born and grew up in the Brent community, south of Sallisaw, OK. She made the long trip to Bakersfield, CA with her family in 1947, where she packed grapes and plums at age 19. She began working as an operator at the telephone company in Arvin, CA and continued working for AT&T after she moved back to Sallisaw until she retired in the early 1970s. Sadie and her husband, James opened The Sport Shop on the west end of Sallisaw. They sold everything from minnows to fishing and hunting gear. After several years, they closed the store and opened Jackson's Department Store in downtown Sallisaw where one of the popular features was to cut off and hem jeans to fit. The store closed its doors in 1995.
Survivors are two daughters, Linda Copeland and Carrol of Sallisaw, OK and Brenda Lyons and Danny of Sapulpa, OK; one son, James Charles Jackson and Lisa of Houston, TX; four grandchildren, Greg Copeland, Karen Hurlbut and Chris, Tanner Jackson and Shelby and Trevor Jackson; two step-grandchildren, Patricia Miller and Jason and Daniel Lyons and Mona; four step-great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and siblings, Aaron, Marion "Sammy", Charles Jr "Dobbin", Cleo, Arvil, Juanita, Governor and Patricia.
Viewing will be 1 - 8 pm Wednesday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw.
