Funeral services for Rodney Joe "RJ" Nutter, age 74, of Muldrow, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church in Roland, Oklahoma. Following the service, burial will take place at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas, under the care of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Born on July 19, 1951, in Pampa, Texas, to Imogene (Ray) Nutter and Charles Nutter, RJ passed away on May 9, 2026, in Greenwood, Arkansas. Known for his warm and welcoming nature, RJ never met a stranger and was always ready to offer a helping hand to those in need. He cherished singing gospel and country music and proudly owned and operated River City Tile Company for 15 years. His exceptional craftsmanship in tile work left a lasting mark on numerous commercial projects, including malls and hospitals.
Above all, RJ took great pride in his grandchildren, often sharing stories of them with everyone he met. A devoted member of Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church and a proud U.S. Army Veteran who served during the Vietnam War, RJ’s kind heart and generous spirit touched many lives and will be deeply missed.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Hope’s Creek, VA Hospital Palliative Care Unit in Fayetteville, Pink Bud Nursing Home, and Heart of Hospice for their compassionate care.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Heather Winters and Brandon of Amarillo, TX; son, Toby Nutter and Randi of Stinnett, TX; six grandchildren, Haygen Nutter, Scout Burris, Ryder Burris, Evan Sloan-Treat, Dylan Winters, and Bailey Brown; one sister, Charlene Harris; as well as numerous friends and extended family, including his best friend, Jerry Blagg of Stinnett, TX.
RJ was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Vicki Pruitt.
Viewing will be held at 9:00 AM on Wednesday at Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects.
