**In Loving Memory of Odis Wayne Merrill**
Odis Wayne Merrill, age 85, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, passed away on June 18, 2025. Born on October 6, 1939, in Hanson Community, Oklahoma, he was the son of Prilla Audrey (Nimmo) Merrill and Daniel Ode "D.O." Merrill.
Wayne married the love of his life, Gloria Faye (Cox) Merrill, on May 11, 1960, in Stillwell, Oklahoma. Together, they built a beautiful life characterized by love, laughter, and unwavering support for one another. For 70 years, Wayne devoted himself to his passion as a barber, serving the community with skill and kindness. He was a dedicated member of the Gans Bible Church, where he found solace and fellowship.
Wayne is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria, and their two children: daughter Kathryn Victory and her husband Jeremy, and son Eddie Wayne Merrill and his wife Donna, all of Sallisaw, Oklahoma. He was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren: Kasi Manuel and Dave, Justus Merrill and Andrea, Erin Powell, Whitney Wilson and Andrew, and Taylor Victory and Ashlin. He also leaves behind 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter, who were a source of immense joy.
Additionally, he is remembered by his brother, Larry Merrill of Gans, Oklahoma, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends who hold his memory close to their hearts.
He was preceded by his parents, two sisters, Hazel Harper and Emma Belle Adams, and three brothers, D.O. Merrill, Jerry Merrill, and Jess Merrill.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, with burial to follow at Brent Cemetery in Gans, Oklahoma.
Active pallbearers include Caleb Bailey, Taylor Victory, Dave Manuel, Andrew Wilson, Justus Merrill, and Steve Padgett. Honorary pallbearers are Dewey Padgett, Bob Hill, Duane Brown, and Robert Steiner.
Viewing will take place from 1 PM to 8 PM on Friday at the Agent Mallory Martin Chapel.
Wayne will be dearly missed and fondly remembered for his generosity, warmth, and spirit. May he rest in peace.
