Mary Jane (Hines) Caves

Graveside services for Mary Jane (Hines) Caves, age 85, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Brushy Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. The service will be conducted under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Mary Jane was born on June 2, 1940, in the Brushy Community, Oklahoma, to Sylvia (Davis) Hines and Clayton Mayo Hines. She passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Mary Jane was married to Calvin Caves, who preceded her in death on November 13, 1994. She was a devoted homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

Mary Jane cherished spending time with family and friends, enjoyed going to yard sales, gardening, and had a deep love for her animals. She also found joy in playing card games with her loved ones.

She is lovingly survived by her three daughters, Mary Wells of Muldrow, OK, Janie Milian and Hector of Sallisaw, OK, and Jawana Pressley of Roland, OK; one son, Steve Gober, Jr. and Joann of Woonsocket, Rhode Island; 14 grandchildren: William Shafer, Sarah Wells, Brittney Riffey, Holly Davis, Jacob Cox, John Cox, Keyla Turner, Coby Milian, Amanda Pierce, Zachary Pressley, Matthew Pressley, Tia Petrin, Hailey Gober, and Steven Gober; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Mary Jane is also survived by her four sisters, Imogene Cheek of Sallisaw, OK, Marie Bolin and Gary of Brushy, OK, Nancy Lineberry and Allen of Sallisaw, OK, and Sylvia Kirkpatrick and Dan of Lake City, Tennessee; two brothers, Thomas Hines and Clayton C. Hines, both of Brushy, OK; and numerous other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one grandson, David Shafer; one great-grandchild, Beau Pierce; two sisters, Jewel Teague and Edith Hines; and two brothers, Ozzie Hines and Edward J. Hines.

A viewing will be held from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, Oklahoma.

Mary Jane’s life was a testament to love, family, and kindness, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
