Marion Louis "M.L." Owens, age 86, of Muldrow, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025. He was born on February 5, 1939, in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Franklin Marion Owens and Alean (Traweek) Owens. He was married to Phyllis Jean Vann on October 21, 1960 in Stilwell, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on November 28, 2020.
M.L. attended Conners State College and received his Bachelor's Degree from Oklahoma State University "Go Pokes!". Mr. Owens served as the Assistant Director of Vocational Training at Hamilton Correctional Center in Hodgen, Oklahoma. His work positively impacted countless lives, and his commitment to helping others was evident in all he did. He was deeply respected in his field for his compassionate approach and unwavering dedication to empowering individuals through education and skill development. Mr. Owens was a member of the Army National Guard and First Baptist Church in Muldrow. His legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his two brothers, Carl Owens of Owasso, OK and Patrick Owens and Carol of Muldrow, OK; sister-in-law, Robbie Nell Vann of Muldrow, OK; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; sisters-in-law, Shirley Peaslee and Betty Prine and brothers-in-law, Lecho Vann and James Lynn Vann.
Visitation will be held on December 7, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Chapel In Muldrow, Oklahoma providing an opportunity for friends and family to gather in remembrance of this cherished man. A funeral service celebrating his life will take place on December 8, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Muldrow Memory Gardens in Muldrow, Oklahoma.
Active pallbearers will be Brett Vann, Lynn Vann, Kevin Peaslee, Michael Owens, Joe Owens, Kyle Henson and Jayson Tippetts. Honorary pallbearers will be James Treat, Marcy Frost, David Butler, Jeff Callaway, Bill Moon, Pat O'Bryan and First Baptist Morning Prayer Breakfast Group.
In this time of sorrow, let us remember Marion for his kindness, wisdom, and the impactful legacy he leaves behind.
