Marion Marie (Dettmer) Brown

Marion Marie Brown passed from this world to go to her heavenly home on November 7th, 2023. She is at peace now. She was born on September 23, 1938 in Arlington Heights, IL to Wilhelmine and Friedrich Dettmer.

Marion loved the Lord and was a devoted member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Ft. Smith. Nearly everyone she knew, she loved and was loved in return by them. Marion was retired from the US Attorney’s office where she was a legal secretary.

She met the love of her life, Billy Don Brown, in Colorado Springs where they worked at the Air Force Academy. They were married on May 29th 1960, in Chicago, IL. They were married 61 years at Billy’s passing in September 2021.

Funeral Service for Marion Marie Brown, 85, of Gans, Oklahoma will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Viewing will be 10 AM – 8 PM Monday, November 13th at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK where the family will greet 6 – 8 PM.

Survivors are one daughter, Linda Brown of Gans, OK; one son, Darrell Brown and Sherry of Fort Smith, AR; two grandchildren, Ericka Beam and Travis of Cheyenne, WY and Olivia Brown of Fort Smith, AR; and other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Brown; parents, Friedrich and Wilhelmine Dettmer; one sister, Lillian Shipley; and two brothers, Walter Dettmer and Leonard Dettmer.

She will be greatly missed.
