Lillian Joyce Thacker-Alberty

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lillian Joyce Thacker, lovingly known as Joyce by her friends and family, who left this world peacefully on September 1, 2025.

Born in Ohio, Joyce made eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas her home for over 60 years, with especially strong ties to Vian and Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Her life was a beautiful blend of resilience, joy, and devotion to family and community.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Thacker and Hazel Kirk-Thacker, her sister, Iva Sue Thacker-Casinger, and her beloved daughter, Kathy Gregory. She is survived by her children, Karen Gregory-Day, Jonathan Wells, and Michael Shane Hodges, who will carry forward her legacy of kindness and strength. Joyce was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren and a joyful great-grandmother to 14 great-grandchildren, each of who brought her immense pride and happiness.

Joyce had a zest for life that was evident in the things she loved. She was avid dancer -- especially fond of the two-step -- and had a deep appreciation for classic country music, the kind that told stories and stirred the soul. Her gardens were her sanctuary, blooming with care and beauty, and her pets were cherished companions who brought her comfort and joy.

Her gentle spirit, generous heart, and vibrant personality made her a cherished figure in the lives of many. her memory will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.

A celebration of Joyce's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, where family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and gratitude for the beautiful life she lived.
