Funeral services for Laurene E. Swanson, age 90, of Vian, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Vian Trinity Free Holiness Church in Vian, Oklahoma. Following the service, burial will take place at Haven of Rest Cemetery in Vian, under the care of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Laurene was born on March 7, 1936, in Tipton, Iowa, to Edna Galena (Ehresman) Schlaegel and Forrest Franklin Schlaegel. She passed away on May 21, 2026, in Vian, Oklahoma. On April 10, 1955, she married Robert A. Swanson, who preceded her in death. Laurene was the valedictorian of her graduating class and cherished as a wonderful mother, grandmother, and the steadfast foundation of her family. She held a deep love for the Lord throughout her life.

She is lovingly survived by her four daughters, Lori Jett and Arba of Vian, Oklahoma, Peggy Mize and Robbie of Claremore, Oklahoma, Marilyn Eckstein of Muldrow, Oklahoma, and Geri Swanson of Vian, Oklahoma. She is also survived by five sons, Gordon Swanson and Courtney of Stockton, IL, Larry Swanson and Templia of Vian, OK, Bob Swanson and Angela of Vian, OK, Eddie Swanson and Rose of Warner, OK, and Dewey Swanson and Betty of Broken Arrow, OK;

Laurene's legacy continues through her 21 grandchildren: Regina, Carrie, Brian, Andrew, Miranda, Brandon, John, Rebecca, James, Michelle, Clinton, Emily, Elvis, Lilly, Samuel, Henry, Danielle, Galen, Ashley, Danny, and Brittany; along with numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Gloria Fletcher of Kenosha, Wisconsin; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Geraldine Swanson; her husband Robert; her parents; one sister, Joyce Turner; and three brothers Roland Schlaegel, Vern Floberg, and Roger Floberg.

Active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Brian Swanson, Andrew Swanson, Brandon Swanson, John Swanson, James Swanson, Clinton Swanson, Elvis Swanson, Samuel Swanson, Henry Swanson, Galen Swanson, and Daniel Swanson. Viewing will be held from noon until 8 PM on Tuesday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, where the family will greet 6 - 8 PM.

Laurene E. Swanson’s life was a testament to love, faith, and family, and she will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
