Laura Sue Fox Terry is survived by her husband of 56 years, Virgil Allen Terry, of the home; their only daughter, Dr. Jennifer Terry Scoufos, and her husband Fourth Scoufos of Sallisaw; grandson Quint Scoufos, his wife Halee and their two daughters Collins and Anderson of Edmond; and grandson Fox Scoufos and his fiancé Alyssa Smith of Durango, Colorado. There are no words to describe how much Sue adored her grandsons. Sue would say the obituary should stop here, because these were the people that made her the happiest. Sue’s life was full, and she was an amazing lady, so more needs to be said.
Some people teach from a classroom. Others teach by the way they live. Sue did both beautifully. A devoted educator, she spent her career and life helping others learn, grow, and believe in themselves. Generations of students were fortunate enough to sit in her classroom, where lessons extended far beyond textbooks. To those who knew her best, she was much more than an exceptional teacher and counselor, she was the strongest woman we knew.
As a mother, grandmother, friend, teacher, and mentor, she gave freely of herself and asked little in return. Her love was steady, her support unwavering, and her influence immeasurable. The lessons she taught her family—about courage, compassion, resilience, and joy—will remain with us forever.
Though our hearts are broken by her absence, we are profoundly grateful for the time we shared with her. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, the students she inspired, and the family she loved so fiercely.
Sue leaves behind a world that is better because she was in it. As she requested, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Sallisaw Football Booster Club or your favorite charity.
