Karen Jean Campo, born Karen Jean Elerick, passed away on September 30, 2026, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, at the age of 85. She was born on January 17, 1941, in Harrah, Oklahoma to Max and Bonnie Elerick.
Karen lived a life marked by devotion to her family, her faith, and her work. She retired after a career as an elementary teacher, a calling through which she touched the lives of many children and families over the years. She also attended First Christian Church, where her faith was an important part of her life. On July 22, 1957, she married Don Campo in Gainesville, Texas, beginning a marriage and family life that remained central to her heart.
Above all, Karen will be remembered for the love she shared with those closest to her. She is survived by one daughter, Marcia Winans and Ron of Sallisaw, OK; two sons, Robert Roy Campo and Donna of Beggs, OK and Michael Jarman Campo and Deanna of Norman, OK; nine grandchildren, Jeremiah, Lauren, Jamie, Karenna, Lance, Sarah, Bonnie, Luke, and Michaela; eight great-grandchildren, Cain, Cale, Katherine, Norah, Karaline Rose, Eleanor, Audrey and Edmund; one sister, Kathy Pruitt of Powell, TX; one brother, John Elerick of Jones, OK; two sisters in law, Glenda Elerick of Jones, OK and Kathy Elerick of Stroud, OK; and several other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don Campo; twin grandchildren, Christopher and Joshua Campo and two brothers, Phillip and Jim Elerick.
