Joy Inez (Lokey) Whatley

Funeral Service for Joy Inez Whatley, 90, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Church of Christ in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Sallisaw City Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

She was born on October 14, 1932 in Dayton, Arkansas to Edith (Dill) Lokey and William “Bill” Russell Lokey and passed away on June 20, 2023 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. She was married to Rex Bell Whatley on August 10, 1957 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Joy was an inspector at Dixie Cup and a member of Sallisaw Church of Christ.

Survivors are husband, Rex of home; two sons, Rex Blake Whatley of Stilwell, OK and Bret Whatley of Sallisaw, OK; one sister, June Edwards of Hawkins, TX; three brothers, Bob Lokey of Holly Grove, W.V., Mike Lokey of Glenwood, AR and Dan Lokey of Arkoma, OK; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Don, Rex, Jack and Bill Lokey; and three sisters, Bettye Jo DeFord, Margaret Karl and Bobbie Teresa Lokey.

Active Pallbearers will be men of the Church of Christ.

Viewing will be 10 AM – 8 PM Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK.
