Jonnie Kay (Richardson) Jones

Jonnie Kay (Richardson) Jones, 73, of Muldrow was born on December 18, 1952 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma to Fred and Betty Ann (Marrs) Richardson. She entered her heavenly journey on April 10, 2026, at her home, surrounded by family and pets.

She was the granddaughter of Sam and Callie (Anderson) Richardson and John and Lois (Brown) Marrs. She married Charles Jones on December 29, 1978 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. They were married 34 years until his passing in 2012.

Jonnie Kay loved being Mom to her kids and Mimi to her grandkids and great granddaughter. She was a loud spectator at basketball and football games. She especially loved spoiling her fur babies. Jonnie loved to plant flowers, to work in her garden, watch The Young and the Restless, and to spend time with her family and friends, having cookouts and going out to eat. Anyone who let her drive, was scarred for life!

She also enjoyed doing arts and crafts and painting, a hobby she shared with her mother. She loved family game nights and redecorating her home. You never knew if the color scheme or furniture placement would be the same two visits in a row.

Jonnie Kay was a self-proclaimed red-head, saying it fit her personality best. As fiery as she was, she was always willing to help anyone in her family, especially when they needed extra help and care.

She worked for Wal-Mart in Sallisaw before transferring to Farmington, New Mexico, where she was able to foster her love of all things southwest and Navajo then to Odessa, Texas. She later returned to the area to work at Wal-Mart in Fort Smith, where she retired after 35 years with the company. Those that worked with her were always amazed at how fast she worked and got things done. She also ran Thunder Rally Skateway in Sallisaw with her husband, sister and niece.

She is survived by her fur babies Bo, Hondo and Layla; one son, Billy Jones and Sherry of Spiro, Oklahoma; one daughter, Jennifer Jones-Ruark and James of Muldrow, Oklahoma; one brother, Chuck Richardson and Karen of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; one great granddaughter, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Jones, her parents, Fred and Betty Richardson; her sister, Janet Miller; her grandparents and other loved ones.

Pallbearers will be James Ruark, Billy Jones, Ed Marrs, Scott Ostrander, Wesley Burke and Mark Reed. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Hemphill, Ralph Pratt, Chuck Richardson and Dick Miller.

Viewing will be Noon - 8 PM Wednesday and 10 AM - 8 PM Thursday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK where the family will greet 5 - 6 PM Thursday.

Funeral services will be on Friday, April 17, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Agent Mallory-Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Burial will be at Sallisaw City Cemetery.
