Funeral Service for John Ray Harvell, of Pocola, Oklahoma, will be at 3:00 PM on Friday, May 31, 2024 at Muldrow Church of the Nazarene in Muldrow, Oklahoma is under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

John Ray Harvell, age 59, of Pocola, Oklahoma passed away on May 26, 2024 at his home with his loving family as his bedside. John was born on August 15, 1964 to Gerry Louise Krueger and Buddy Ray Harvell in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. After John graduated from Gans High School in 1982 he joined the United States Marine Corp (USMC) as he served as a Combat Engineer. After completing his time in the USMC, he started working at Riverside Furniture in Fort Smith, Arkansas for several years. He also worked at Whirlpool in Fort Smith, Arkansas and then started his career of over 20 years in the Auto Body Collision Industry where he held several positions across the country including his most memorable time spent with his Premier Collision Family in Broken Arrow, OK and lastly his friends at Harrison Robinson Collision Center in Fort Smith, Arkansas where he had to resign his position due to his terminal illness.

In 1990, John met his loving wife, Sharleen, at Sallisaw, Oklahoma. They became husband and wife in 1993 and were married for 31 years. John and Sharleen went on to have two wonderful sons, Johnathan and Timothy Harvell.

John also gave of his time and dedication to his Lord and Savior as a Sunday School Teacher of the young teenagers at the Southside Nazarene Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas and helped with the Bus Ministry at the Muldrow Nazarene Church in Muldrow, Oklahoma. John gave of his time to his community as serving as a Volunteer Basketball Coach for several years at the Fort Smith Boys and Girls Club with the 9th-12th grade students.

John was a huge OU and Kansas City Chiefs Fan, which he cheered on each season with passion. He also loved playing softball with various teams throughout his life and he also played basketball throughout his high school years.

John is survived by his loving wife, Sharleen of the home; oldest son, Johnathan Keith Harvell and wife, Veila, of Aurora, CO and youngest son, Timothy Ray Harvell and wife, Katelynn, of Owasso, OK; cherished grandson, Emiliano Keith Harvell of Aurora, CO; expected granddaughter due July 2024, Ramona Renae Harvell; mother, Gerry Krueger of Muldrow, OK; three sisters, Susan Harvell-Brown of Charleston, AR, Tonya Harvell of Sallisaw, OK and Carol Hand and husband, Jimmy, of Lamar, AR; brother, Lynn Harvell and wife, Lynnette, of Muldrow, OK; and many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Buddy Ray Harvell; paternal grandparents, Tom Allen Harvell and Cricket Marie Harvell; maternal grandparents, Dan Johnson and Tenni Belle Eastland; one child and four grandchildren whom John was unable to meet here, but will be reunited with in Heaven.

Everyone who knew John felt his big heart and giving nature. He will be missed by his family and friends. The family would like to thank you Elara Caring Hospice Team for their compassionate and loving care that they showed John and his family during his illness an passing. The family also would like to thank all of their family and friends for their support and prayers. They would also like to thank Loveland Nazarene Church in Loveland, Colorado, the Cavanaugh Free Will Baptist Church of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and the Muldrow Church of the Nazarene in Muldrow, Oklahoma for all of their love, support and prayers through this difficult time.

Active Pallbearers will be Johnathan Harvell, Timothy Harvell, Lynn Harvell, Shawn Hamby, Ralph Higinbotham and Alex Cardenas. 

Viewing will be 10 AM - 8 PM Thursday at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Muldrow, OK where the family will greet 6 - 8 PM.
