Funeral Service for Jerry Scott Speir, PhD, age 87, of Roland, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Roland City Cemetery in Roland, Oklahoma, under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Jerry Scott Speir was born on January 23, 1939, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, to Ollie Elsie (Blaylock) Speir and James Luther Speir. He passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026, in Roland, Oklahoma. On December 28, 1982, he married Joy Ann (Poss) Speir in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Jerry dedicated his life to education as an agriculture teacher and served his country as a U.S. Army veteran and member of the Air National Guard. He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. His guiding motto throughout life was “Faith, Family, Country.”

He is survived by his wife, Joy, of the home; five daughters: Reveena Speir of Roland, Oklahoma; Ramonia Fleetwood and Roger of Roland, Oklahoma; Rebecca Speir of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Reada Hickman of Roland, Oklahoma; and Lisa Jude and Randy of Maple Lake, Minnesota; one son, Jon Speir and Christine of Senoia, Georgia; eleven grandchildren: Sidney, Tyler, Austin, Jared, Ryan, Jacob, Beau, Dylan, Kyle, Eric, and Adam; eight great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jared; one grandson, Allen; three sisters, Jewel, Mavis, and Pearlene; two brothers, James “Sonny” and Jack; and two Speir infants.

Active pallbearers will be Sidney Speir, Jared Fleetwood, Jacob Fleetwood, Beau Krescher, Dylan Krescher, and Roger Fleetwood. Honorary pallbearers will include Austin Shook, Ryan Fleetwood, Kyle Schaubhut, Tyler Schuster, Eric Palmer, Adam Palmer, and Randy Judy.

A viewing will be held at noon on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Jerry Scott Speir will be remembered with deep respect and affection by all who knew him. His legacy of faith, family, and country leaves a lasting imprint on those he cherished.
