Funeral service for Jerry Glenn Risenhoover, 80 of Sallisaw, Oklahoma will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at Brushy Holiness Church in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Brushy Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
He was born on May 27, 1943 in St. John, Kansas to Iva Geraldeen (Crawford) Risenhoover and Joseph Hardin Risenhoover and passed away on June 15, 2023 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. He was married to Katherine Jane (Bilyeu) Risenhoover on October 8, 1960 in Stilwell, Oklahoma. Mr. Risenhoover was a welder, a leverman on a dredge on the Arkansas River, a concrete finisher, and worked moving houses for Harrell Burns. He was the first Fire Chief at Brushy Fire Department and loved rodeos, roping and riding.
Survivors are wife, Janie of the home; two daughters, Cindy Ellis and Randy of Marble City, OK and Juliet Risenhoover of Sallisaw, OK; one son, Joey Risenhoover and Lydia Buster of Sallisaw, OK; four granddaughters, Hannah Risenhoover, Shawna Talkington, Logan Ellis and Emily Ellis; four grandsons, Jess Lamb, Joe Paul Ellis, Victor Arzate and Tristan Buster; six great granddaughters, Abigail and Gabrielle Russell, Alivia Ellis, Maliah Arzate, Piper Ellis and Tilly Robey; six great grandsons, Blake Darnell, Jackson Talkington, Able Ellis, Adrian Arzate, Josh Robey and Alex Robey; two sisters, LeVurn Barker and Vicki Brewer of Sallisaw, OK; one brother, Dennis Risenhoover and Carla of Sallisaw, OK; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant sons, Jerry Dewayne and David Risenhoover; sister, Arlena Gardenhire; and one brother, Bobby Joe Risenhoover.
Active Pallbearers will be Douglas Risenhoover, Michael Brewer, David Philpot, David Barker, Kyle Ricks, Johnny Risenhoover and Paul Sullivan.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jess Lamb, Tommy Petree, Randy Folks, and his nephews and great nephews.
Viewing will be 3 – 6 pm Sunday and 10 am – 8 pm Monday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw where the family will greet 6 – 8 pm Monday.
