It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Grover Drew, Jr., a beloved member of our family. His kindness, love, and strength will forever remain in our hearts.
Born on August 30, 1954, to the late Grover Drew Sr. and Almaree Williams Drew. Grover Jr was a proud graduate of Central High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma, class of 1973. He worked at Oklahoma Steel Casting until 1989 and briefly attended Tulsa Junior College, continuing his pursuit of knowledge and self-improvement.
Grover Jr was known to all who met him for his large personality and deep love of conversation. He had a remarkable ability to connect with others through thoughtful discussions, whether on life's big questions or lighthearted topics that brought a smile to everyone's face. His jokes-at times adult in nature-either left you shaking your head or left you laughing, as humor was one of the many gifts he gave so freely.
Grover was a true lover of music with an appreciation for jazz and blues specifically. As he closed his eyes and listened, those were genres that spoke to his soul. He found joy in the rhythm of life, and whether he was relaxing to his favorite records or engaging in spirited conversations with friends, his presence was always vibrant.
Although he never married and did not have children of his own, he was a beloved son, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend to many. His kindness, generosity, and willingness to lend a helping hand made him a treasured figure in the lives of all who knew him. Grover's laughter, love, and spirit will be deeply missed.
Grover was preceded in death by his parents, Grover Drew Sr. and Almaree Drew, as well as his siblings: George Drew Sr., Anthony Drew Sr., Rosetta Hunt, Helen Schumpert, and Virgial Lane.
He leaves behind an aunt Irene Drew, his sister Neomi Palmer and brother-in-law Leroy Schumpert as well as a legacy of cherished memories in the hearts of his family and friends.
Many took note of his size, but to those that knew him know that Grover Jr's kindness and heart were much larger.
