Funeral Service for Gomer Smith, 92, of Inola, Oklahoma, will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 2, 2026 at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Drakestand Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Gomer D.C. Smith passed away peacefully on September 29, 2026. He was born April 22, 1934, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, to Walter and Cora Mae Smith.

Gomer made his home in Inola, Oklahoma, where he resided for 56 years. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. It was during his life in Oklahoma that he met the love of his life, Mary Jane Capps. The two married on January 31, 1956 and built a life together centered around their family.

Gomer was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved his family deeply, and they were truly the heart of his life. He especially enjoyed quail hunting a hobby that brought him many happy memories throughout the years. Above all, though, Gomer treasured the time he spent with his family and the many memories they made together.

Gomer was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Jane Smith; his parents; their first son, David Charles; and many siblings.

He is survived by his four children: Don Smith and his wife Lynn of Bixby, Wesley Smith and his wife Jeri Sue of Huntsville, Arkansas, James Smith and his wife Tammie of Claremore and daughter Regina Williamson and her husband Eddie of Skiatook.

He also leaves behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren all of whom he loved dearly and who’s lives were blessed by having him as their “Papa”.

Gomer will be remembered for his love of family, his quiet strength, his love of the outdoors, and the many memories he created with those he loved. His family will carry his memory and the love he gave them in their hearts always.

Active Pallbearers will be Don Smith, Wes Smith, James Smith, Eddie Williamson, Jerry Smith, and Jayden Smith-Copeland.

Viewing will be from 9:00 to 10:00 AM on Friday, at the funeral home, one hour prior to the funeral service.
