Services for George Allan Harris, 71, of Blackgum, Oklahoma, will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Vian, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Vian, Oklahoma, under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
George was born on October 10, 1954, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Jean Louise (Thurston) Harris and George William Harris. He passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026, in Gore, Oklahoma.
George graduated from John Marshall High School in 1972 and continued his education at Oklahoma State University in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He began his career in retail sales with C.R. Anthony's in Edmond, Oklahoma. He later worked for TG&Y (McCrory Stores) at various locations throughout the Oklahoma City and Edmond areas, serving as Assistant Store Manager and Store Manager before eventually making his way to the corporate offices.
In 1988, George continued his career in sales with Pratt & Lambert Paint, later Sherwin-Williams, where his dedication and success earned him numerous sales awards. In 1996, he followed a longtime dream and moved to the lake, beginning a new career in real estate. In 2000, he established his own business, TenkillerProperty.com, which continues to serve the area today.
George had a genuine passion for his community and believed in giving his time and talents to the place he called home. He was a member of Cookson Hills Methodist Church, where he served as Chairperson. For 14 years, he was a dedicated member of the Blackgum Mountain Volunteer Fire Department and First Responders, also serving as Vice Chair. George was involved with the Vian Lions Club for many years and enjoyed helping coach the Vian School golf team. His commitment to the community also included membership in the Vian, Gore, and Sallisaw Chambers of Commerce, as well as the Greater Tenkiller Area Association/Oklahoma Ozarks Tourism Association, where he served on the board.
When he wasn't working or serving his community, George enjoyed hunting, fishing, and, especially in his later years, spending time on his boat at the lake. Sundays often found him on the golf course, and some of his favorite rounds were those shared with his son. George was also an avid music lover who attended many concerts throughout the years, with The Moody Blues holding a special place as his favorite group.
Above all, George treasured his family and the life he built in the Tenkiller area. He will be remembered for his years of service to his community, his entrepreneurial spirit, his love of the lake, and the many friendships he made along the way.
Survivors are his son, Nathan Harris and wife RayAnn of Vian, OK; three grandsons, Cooper, Carter, and Catcher of Vian, OK; two brothers, Kent Harris of Fort Worth, TX, and Randy Harris of Oklahoma City, OK; one sister, Linda Harris of Luther, OK; and a niece, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean Louise (Thurston) Harris and George William Harris.
Viewing will be from Noon to 8:00 PM on Monday, September 7, 2026, at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. The family will greet friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
