He was born on June 3, 1946 in Roland, Oklahoma to Joie (Krumsieck) Towzen and Clarence West and passed away on October 4, 2025 in Roland, Oklahoma. Gaylord worked for Baldor Electric Company. He loved coon hunting, riding his mule, and being around animals.

Survivors are two sons, Reggie West and Jefferson West, both of Oklahoma City, OK; one grandson, Seth Hamby of Tulsa, OK; three brothers, JR West of Hot Springs, AR, Barry West of Roland, OK, and Mickey West of Tulsa, OK; and several other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Chopper; and one brother, Bill Burrows.
