Gary Lee Morris

Gary Lee Morris, age 71, of Gore, Oklahoma, passed away on February 15, 2026, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Born on December 20, 1954, in Phoenix, Arizona, he was the son of Mary Ima Laverne (Harp) Morris and Leo Sonny Morris.

Gary was united in marriage to Mae Jean Morris on January 25, 1974, in Vian, Oklahoma. They shared many wonderful years together until Mae's passing on January 30, 2011. Gary was well-known for his exceptional masonry work and had a passion for hunting and fishing, which brought him joy and a wide circle of friends.

He is survived by his son, Jimmy Morris of Gore, Oklahoma; granddaughter, Kala Owings of Webbers Falls, Oklahoma; and three great-grandchildren, Kenzley York, Kason Owings, and Kallen York. He is also remembered by his loving sisters, Angelia Chitty of Gore, Oklahoma, Terry Sue Kash and Larry of Porum, Oklahoma, and Marilyn James and Ralph of Gore, Oklahoma, along with his half-sister, Lorrie Dyer and Justin of Tahlequah, Oklahoma. His brother, Roger Morris and Sandra of Gore, Oklahoma, as well as seven nieces, Shawna Johnson, Rebecca Kash, Jessica Morris, Leigha Morris, Kelcey Dyer, Amanda Thomason, and Cassie O'Connor; eight nephews, Adam Dozier, Joshua Chitty, Matthew Chitty, Lucas Morris, Ethan James, Owen James, Rock Morris, and Jimmy Thomason; and a host of other relatives and friends will also carry his memory.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mae Jean; his daughter, Michelle Morris; one sister, Sandra Morris; one brother, Jimmie Don Morris; and one brother-in-law, Casey Chitty.

In celebration of Gary's life, a funeral service will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, followed by burial at Box Cemetery in Vian, Oklahoma, under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Active pallbearers honored to serve will be Luke Morris, Josh Chitty, Adam Dozier, Ethan James, Rock Morris, and Owen James. Honorary pallbearers include Matthew Chitty, Paul Farless, Gabe Dozier, Gunner Dozier, Hunter Farless, and Peyton Johnson.

The family will hold a viewing on Thursday, February 19, 2026, from 10 AM to 8 PM at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, where they will greet visitors from 5 PM to 7 PM.

Gary Lee Morris will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
