Floyd Eugene Mooney

Eugene Mooney, 90, of Nicut, Oklahoma, passed away on July 29, 2025, in Muldrow, Oklahoma. He was born on April 29, 1935, in Uniontown, Arkansas to Ruby Ethel (Hart) Mooney and Floyd Willie Mooney.

Eugene dedicated himself to his work in paving and concrete construction and was a valued member of Short Baptist Church. He married JoAnn (Walters) Mooney on August 4, 1956, in Crawford County, Arkansas. JoAnn preceded him in death on April 24, 2007, leaving a legacy of love and family.

Eugene is survived by his son, Vance Mooney and his wife Kennilee of Nicut, OK; his five grandchildren, Nick Mooney and Durrell of Nicut, OK, Natalie Weidman and Ryan of Alma, OK, Hunter Mooney and Devota of Tulsa, OK, Dillon Mooney of Tulsa, OK, and Blaine Mooney and Tabitha of Sallisaw, OK; as well as seven great-grandchildren who brought him great joy: Isaiah Mooney, Chloe Mooney, Hadleigh Mooney, Tucker Mooney, Mackenzie Mooney, Zoey Mooney, and Karlie Mooney. He is also survived by his brother, Willie Mooney of Van Buren, AR, his companion, Gailia McMaster, and numerous other relatives and friends who cherished him.

Eugene was preceded in death by his beloved wife, JoAnn; a son, Jeff Mooney; a sister, Farrelldene Johnson; and a brother, Dana Wayne Mooney.

A funeral service honoring his life will be held on Monday, August 4, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Seabolt Cemetery in Muldrow, Oklahoma, under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Active pallbearers will include Nick Mooney, Ryan Weidman, Blaine Mooney, William Richards, Lance Lewis, Daniel Johnson, Perry Mooney, and Todd Mooney.

Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects during the viewing on Saturday from 10 AM to 6 PM and on Sunday from 2 PM to 8 PM at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel, where the family will be present to greet visitors on Sunday from 4 PM to 6 PM.

Eugene Mooney will be remembered for his devotion to family, his contributions to the community, and the love he spread throughout his life.
