Sallisaw, Oklahoma

Evelynn McCormack, age 91, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, passed away on November 12, 2025. She was born on April 1, 1934, in Huntsville, Arkansas, the oldest of nine children to Lillie Lee Jean (Ingram) McClain and Clyde Otto McClain.

Evelynn's journey began at a young age when she left home at 15, traveling to Wichita, Kansas, in search of a job. By 18, she returned to Tulsa, where she would meet and marry Millard W. The couple made their home in Tulsa, where Evelynn dedicated herself to being a caring homemaker and devoted mother.

In 1979, Evelynn and her family moved to Sallisaw, where they purchased and managed the Sears Catalog Store, a business that brought her immense joy and community connections. She was fondly known as "Mrs. Sears" long after selling the franchise in 1988. A woman of deep faith, Evelynn was also one of the founding members of the Abundant Life Pentecostal Church of Sallisaw.

She is also survived by six grandchildren, Shauna Mynahan and Chad of Sapulpa, OK, Keith Chandler and Lisa of Sallisaw, OK, Mark McCormack, Jr. and Leslie of Charleston, AR, Daniel McCormack and Ocean of Sallisaw, OK, Matthew McCormack and Jessica of Sallisaw, OK and Ray Barr and Tracy of Roland, OK; 24 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, along with her four sisters, Phyllis Judkins, Wanda Machielson, Deanie Myers, and Pam Graham; her brother Thomas McClain, Sr.; her "special boy" and furbaby, Rascal; and many other relatives and friends.

Evelynn was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: sister Carolyn and brothers Thurman and Donald McClain.
