Edna Louise Cheater

The funeral service for Edna Louise Cheater, age 70, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw. Burial will follow at Flute Springs Cemetery in Marble City, Oklahoma, under the care of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Edna was born on July 5, 1955, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, to Katie (Hooper) Cheater and Jack Cheater. She passed away on April 13, 2026, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Throughout her life, Edna was a devoted caregiver, deeply committed to those around her.

She is lovingly survived by her four daughters: Dewanna Cheater of Marble City, Roberta Locust of Vian, Dawn Proctor and Kendall Colston of Sallisaw, and Katie Foster of Sallisaw; her two sons, Deronie Cheater of Sallisaw and Abe Locust and Shlaine of Sallisaw; and 25 cherished grandchildren: Autumn, Nathan, Rian, Derrick, Denise, Dennis Jr., Giovanni, Octavian, Lin-su, Ocona, Sarah, Aaron, Dustie, Tramen, Daisy, Avery, Bo, Jeremiah, Mayson, Alexander, Shyne, Aaliah, McKinley, J.J., and Tristin. Edna was also a proud great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.

Her siblings include three sisters, Evelyn Hardbarger of Marble City, Shirley Cheater of Tahlequah, and Sheila Blackbird of Vian, as well as one brother, George Cheater of Sallisaw. She is remembered by many other relatives and friends who held her in their hearts.

Edna was preceded in death by four grandchildren, Shannon, Rosella, Baby Backwater, and Kylo; her husbands, Deronie Pettit and Robert Locust; her parents; one sister, Betsy Cheater; and three brothers, Johnny, Joe, and Jack Cheater.

Active pallbearers will be Ocona Riley, Octavian Riley, Jeremiah Proctor, Mason Baker, Bo Locust, and Dennis Robbins, Jr. Honorary pallbearers include Giovanni Riley, Derrick Robbins, and Rian Leaf.

A wake will begin at 2:00 PM on Thursday at her home in Sallisaw, Oklahoma.

Edna’s family and friends will fondly remember her warm spirit and dedication to her loved ones. She leaves behind a rich legacy of love and kindness that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
