Reverend Ed O'Neal

April 28, 1939 — May 3, 2026

Liberty Community, Oklahoma

Reverend Ed O'Neal, age 87, of Liberty Community, Oklahoma, passed away on May 3, 2026, in Roland, Oklahoma. Born on April 28, 1939, in Liberty Community, Oklahoma, to Mable Ann (Sutton) O'Neal and Henry Burl O'Neal, Ed lived a life marked by faith, service, and devotion to family.

Ed married Louella (Woodward) O'Neal on April 6, 1968, in Mineral Springs Community, Oklahoma. Louella preceded him in death on December 5, 2023. Together, they shared many cherished years.

Ed dedicated much of his life to serving others, both in and out of the church. For many years, he worked as a barber, where his chair became more than a place for a haircut—it was a space for conversation, encouragement, and connection. Through his work, he built lasting relationships and touched countless lives.

In addition to his trade, Ed faithfully answered his calling as a minister. He preached with conviction, taught Sunday School with patience and care, and lived out the message he shared each week. His love for God and his commitment to helping others grow in their faith were evident in everything he did.

Ed was also a gifted musician whose talent brought joy to those around him. Whether in church or among family, his music was an expression of both his faith and his heart.

Family meant everything to Ed. At an early age, he stepped up to help raise his siblings, showing a sense of responsibility and love that defined his life. Above all, his greatest joy was his only granddaughter, Kinley. She held a special place in his heart, and the bond they shared was truly one of a kind. She was his pride, his light, and his greatest blessing.

He is survived by his son, Jason O’Neal and Robyn; granddaughter, Kinley O’Neal; brothers, Andy O’Neal and Claretta, Bill O’Neal and Alma; sister, Judy George and Eddie; brother-in-law, Tommy Wells; sisters-in-law, Sharon O’Neal and Dorothy Jordan; and many other relatives and friends. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Burl and Mable O’Neal; wife, Louella; brother, Jack O’Neal; sister, Janice Wells; and brother-in-law, Tommy Jordan.
