Graveside Service for Dorothy D. (Wilson) Taylor, 94, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, February 26, 2024 at Sallisaw City Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
She was born on May 15, 1929 in Vian, Oklahoma to Wilma (Cawhorn) Wilson and Jim Wilson and passed away on February 20, 2024 in Vian, Oklahoma. She was married to Cass T. Taylor on August 6, 1949 in Van Buren, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on August 16, 2014. Dorothy graduated from Vian and received her bachelor’s degree from NSU. She wore many hats through her life, starting as a typist, a beautician, a phone operator for Southwestern Bell and Holt-Krock Clinic, and later she was a special education teacher. Being the matriarch of a military family, she traveled the world with her husband and children. They were stationed in Texas, Virginia, Georgia and twice in Germany. She and her husband enjoyed traveling to Branson, Missouri to watch the shows, go shopping and eat at restaurants.
Survivors are daughter, Carolyn Janette Taylor of Sallisaw, OK; two sons, Tommy Dale Taylor and Janice of Sallisaw, OK and Rodger Berggren and Rhnea of Amarillo, TX; five grandchildren, Melissa Carrigan, Michael Taylor, Kathryn Steffen, Lynzie Johnston and Ross Berggren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Carolyn Joyce Taylor; husband; parents; and two sisters, Sue Isham and Freda Owens.
Viewing will be 10 AM – 6 PM Saturday and 2 – 8 PM Sunday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK where the family will greet 3 – 4 PM Sunday.
