Don was born on March 8, 1950, in Watsonville, California, to Nellie Margaret (Thompson) Tibbitts and Frank Irving Tibbitts. He passed away on August 28, 2026, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma.

Don worked in car sales and was of the Pentecostal faith. A naturally talented handyman, he enjoyed fixing, tinkering with, and working on just about anything, but cars were especially close to his heart. He took great satisfaction in working with his hands and had a knack for figuring out how things worked and how to fix them.

He is survived by three sons, Don Tibbitts, Jr. and Shannon of Benton, Arkansas, Richard Tibbitts and Michelle of Texas, and Frank Tibbitts and Barbara of Texas; 16 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Shirley Tounzen and Don of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, and Linda Tibbitts of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; one brother, Lonnie Tibbitts of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; his bonus son, Pete Gonzales of Texas; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nellie Margaret (Thompson) Tibbitts and Frank Irving Tibbitts.
