Don Robertson

February 22, 1937 — May 5, 2025

Sallisaw, Oklahoma

Don Robertson, age 88, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, passed away on May 5, 2025, in his home, surrounded by family. He was born on February 22, 1937, in Marble City, Oklahoma, to Flora B. (Mays) Robertson and Felix Marion Robertson.

Don married his sweetheart, Diane (Rogers) Robertson, on August 29, 1970, in Marble City. His dedication to education was evident throughout his life; he graduated from Sallisaw High School in 1955 and went on to earn a teaching degree from Northeastern State University. After teaching for two years in Joplin, Missouri, and three years in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, he found his calling in Hazelwood, Missouri, where he taught for 25 years and would later retire. His passion for learning encouraged him to further his studies, and he earned a Master's degree, for "more money" as he would say, while also inviting Diane to join him in some of his courses so he could spend more time with her.

In 1989, after a rewarding career, Don and Diane returned to Marble City to be close to family. Don cherished his time with loved ones and found joy in sharing stories, often declaring, “I’ve got one more story for you” and Diane would respond, "He's told you that already." His warm spirit and humor will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Diane, of the home; brother Dean Robertson and Jean of Pryor, Oklahoma; one sister-in-law, Shelba McClure of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; as well as several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Flora Robertson; his in-laws, Beulah and Ollie Rogers; five brothers-in-law, Jimmy Rogers, Billy Rogers, Buddy Rogers, Seigal Rogers and Stimson Rogers; and three sisters-in-law, Wanda Rogers, Wynona Wright and Mayme Rogers.

A funeral service to honor Don's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Sallisaw City Cemetery under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Active pallbearers will include Jim Rogers, Tom Rogers, Linville Merrill, Brian Rogers, Gary Williams, and Jay Rogers. Honorary pallbearers are Dean Robertson, Doug Deer, Norman Cogburn, Jeremy Philpot, and Tommy Grass.
