Dawna Fay Mefford

Graveside Service for Dawna Fay Mefford, 57, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at Brushy Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Dawna Fay Mefford was born on August 14, 1969, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, to Donald Lee and Dyhana (Petree) Mowdy. She passed away on August 29, 2026, in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Dawna was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she was incredibly proud of each of those titles. Her family was her greatest joy. She cherished every moment spent with them, from family gatherings and celebrations to the simple everyday moments that became treasured memories.

She is survived by her children, Raven Mattingly and Todd of Sallisaw, OK, Courtney Mefford of Sallisaw, OK, Ryon Mefford and Bobbie of Brushy, OK; grandchildren, Bailey Mattingly and Summer of Sallisaw, OK, Madison Mattingly of Norman, OK, Hanna Mattingly of Sallisaw, OK, Berkley Grant of Sallisaw, OK, and Oaklynn Mefford of Sallisaw, OK; great-grandchildren, Kado Mattingly of Sallisaw, OK and Luxtyn Mattingly of Sallisaw, OK; her lifetime friend, Kimberlee Taylor of Sallisaw, OK; two sisters, Shelli Barnes and Mark of Sallisaw, OK, and Sandra Pritchett of Sallisaw, OK; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Dyhana Mowdy; her beloved grandson, Joshua Davin Mefford; and her siblings, Daniel Mowdy and Theresa Bush.

Though her family will miss her more than words can express, her love will continue to live on through every child, grandchild, and great-grandchild she loved so dearly.

Her greatest legacy is the family she loved, the memories she created, and the love she leaves behind. She will forever be loved, forever missed, and never forgotten.

Active Pallbearers will be Ryon Mefford, Matthew Taylor, Bailey Mattingly, Todd Mattingly, Sheldon Caughman, and Joshua Mefford (d. 2025).

Viewing will be Noon - 8 Wednesday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK where the family will greet 6 - 8 PM.
