We gather with heartfelt sorrow and loving memories to honor the life of Darlene (Godfrey) Hope, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Born on October 3, 1952, in Stigler, Oklahoma, Darlene graced the lives of all who knew her until her passing on May 22, 2026, in Muldrow, Oklahoma.
Darlene’s devotion to family and community was reflected in every aspect of her life. Married to Bufurd Hope since April 9, 1971, in Stigler, she shared a partnership full of love and warmth. For 30 years, she lovingly served as the head cook for Muldrow Schools, nourishing countless children with her meals and her kind spirit. Beyond her culinary talents, she was a licensed cosmetologist and worked compassionately as an aide to neurologists at Holt Krock Clinic. She found joy in cooking for others, shopping, and cherished camping trips to Brushy Lake and Kerr Lake—moments that brought light and laughter to those she held dear.
Darlene's legacy is carried on by her husband, Bufurd Hope of the home; their children, Amanda Calvert and Dale of Muldrow, Oklahoma, and Shawn Hope of Muldrow, Oklahoma; and four grandsons, Jake Hope in Muldrow, Oklahoma, Gunner Hope of Muldrow, Oklahoma, Jaxon Hope of Orlando, Florida, and Kade Scott of Muldrow, Oklahoma. She is also lovingly remembered by her sisters, Euleta Elam of Porterville, California, and Barbara Shipman of Choctaw, Oklahoma; her brother, Kenneth Godfrey of Chicago, Illinois; and a wide circle of relatives and friends whose lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dossie Dellie (Jones) Godfrey Dilley and John Wright Godfrey; as well as her three brothers, J.D., Bob, and John "Mack" Godfrey.
A funeral service to celebrate Darlene’s remarkable life will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Muldrow, Oklahoma. She will be laid to rest at Short Mountain Cemetery in Cowlington, Oklahoma.
Viewing will be Noon - 8 PM Tuesday at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel, in Muldrow, Oklahoma, where the family will greet 6 - 8 PM.
Active Pallbearers will be Kade Scott, Gunner Hope, Shawn Hope, Dale Calvert, Chad Sutton, and Bobby Prewett. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tim McDonald, Jaxon Hope, and Jake Hope.
