Curtis Wayne "Pawpaw" Ward, age 57, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, departed this life on September 4, 2025. He was born on June 11, 1968, in Columbus, Ohio, to Betty Lou (Taylor) Ward and Rodger Ward.
Curtis was a jack-of-all-trades. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, including hunting, fishing, and riding four-wheelers and side-by-sides. He also very much enjoyed searching for arrowheads and picking blackberries. However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his beloved granddaughter, Paisley, especially when they shared delightful moments blowing bubbles together.
He is survived by his daughter, Danielle Ward and her fiancé, Coleton Wade of Fort Smith, AR; his son, Ethan Wayne Ward and Grace of Sallisaw, OK; and his cherished granddaughter, Paisley Ward of Sallisaw, OK. Additionally, he leaves behind his mother, Betty Ward of Vian, OK; a brother, Rodger Ward and Gina of San Antonio, TX; two sisters, April Ward of Tahlequah, OK and Melissa Ward of Vian, OK; as well as nieces and nephews, Trevor Ward and Jennifer Ward, both of San Antonio, TX, Marissa Simpson and William Lyons, both of Vian, OK, and great-nieces and nephews, Riley and Oliver Ward, Layla, Averie, and Teddy Joe Honeycutt, along with many other relatives and friends.
Curtis was preceded in death by his father, Rodger Ward; his uncles, Sam Taylor, Frank Taylor, and Jake Taylor; and Nicole Goodwin Ward.
A funeral service to honor Curtis's life will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025, at 2:30 PM at the Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Viewing will take place from 10 AM to 2 PM on the same day at the chapel.
