Connie Elizabeth (Fletcher) Daily

April 17, 1935 — December 2, 2023

Connie Elizabeth Fletcher Daily was born April 17, 1935 (20 minutes after her twin, Bonnie) to Orvil Andrew Fletcher and Madeline Allen Thorton Fletcher. Connie had 4 siblings, Bonnie Rogers, Carl Fletcher, Allen Fletcher and Jamicia Cowen.

Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Jack McKinley Daily; her parents, Mack and Dock; her brother, Carl; sister, Jamicia; niece, Stephanie Rogers Turner and nephew, Hughes Fletcher.

She is survived by a son, Madison Daily; a daughter, Madelyn Daily Flenor; son-in-law, Stan Flenor; grandson, Jay Flenor; sister, Bonnie Rogers; brother, Allen Fletcher; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Connie grew up in the Paw Paw Bottoms and in Lone Oak where she attended elementary school. She graduated from Muldrow High School in May of 1953 and married Jack in August of 1953. They lived in Waco, Texas where Jack was stationed in the Air force. After the air force, Jack and Connie returned to Oklahoma and enrolled in college at NorthEastern University in Tahlequah, Ok. Connie earned an undergraduate degree in elementary education, and master’s degree in Math and Library Science. Education was her career and her passion.

She taught 1 year in Joplin Missouri before returning home to teach in the Fort Smith School District. She began that career at Darby Jr. High in 1961 and finished it at Chaffin Jr. High in 1992. Connie taught Math and Algebra before transfering into the library. The Fort Smith Classroom Teachers Association awarded Connie with the Golden Apple Award for outstanding educator in 1992. Connie retired after 31 years of service. She was a proud and active member of the FSCTA, the AEA and the ATRA.

Connie was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Muldrow, Ok. She served the church for most of her adult life. Connie sang in the choir until her health prevented her from continuing. She also served in the nursery, at bible school, and as a cook at church camps. When needed, she along with Jack and Pat and Doris ‘Bryan, served as stand-in activity and youth directors. Connie was also responsible for making sure the memorial for Jack was perfect by adding to the donations that were collected. She did the same with the memorial for her Sister Jamicia when they updated the Challenger Sunday School Classroom.

Connie was an instructor/member of the Muldrow Dancing Divas line dance group. She was honored as an Outstanding Dancing Diva in 2016. She and Bonnie were honored as Parade Marshals of the 2021 Muldrow Christmas parade. She loved to grow flowers, go on walks, shop, and show up late. Her greatest love was Jack; her longest friendship was with Bonnie; her greatest pride was her family. She loved each of them strongly and unconditionally.

One of her greatest joys was her grandson Jay. She loved being “Gran’Beth”

She passed away in her sleep December 2, 2023. She will always be loved, remembered and missed.

The family will visit with friends 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm Thursday, December 7, 2023 at the Muldrow First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. After the visitation, a Memorial and Celebration of Life for Connie will be held in the Muldrow Baptist Church.
