Billy Smith, a beloved member of the Sallisaw, Oklahoma community, passed away on February 27, 2026, at the age of 96. Born on November 30, 1929, to Minnie (Cragg) Smith and Robert Lee Smith, his life was marked by love, dedication, and service.
Billy was united in marriage to Lula Lee (Masterson) Smith on August 21, 1948. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love, which remained strong until her passing on December 21, 2023. A proud veteran of the United States Army, Billy exemplified the spirit of service in both his military career and his role as President of Redwood Heights Developers, Inc. He was also a devoted member of the Church of Christ, where he contributed to the community and shared his faith.
Billy’s legacy continues through his two sons, B.T. Smith and Carla of Glenwood, AR, and Stephen Joe Smith and Nancy of Sallisaw, OK; four grandchildren: Ryan T. Smith and Kelly of Fort Smith, AR, Stephanie Leatherman of Sallisaw, OK, Britan Upton and Bruce of Hot Springs, AR, and Heather Weedon and Jeremy of Sallisaw, OK; five great-grandchildren: Erin Cox and Rayne of Muskogee, OK, Kennedy and Sydney Weedon of Sallisaw, OK, Kaitlyn Smith of Richmond, KY, and Carson Upton of Hot Springs, AR; two great-great-grandchildren, Weston and Wrenley Cox of Muskogee, OK; one sister-in-law, Wanda Smith; and numerous relatives and friends whose lives he touched.
Billy is preceded in death by his cherished wife, Lula Lee Smith; two brothers, Lelis and R.L.; and five sisters, Vannie, Sylvia, Glyndean, Marie, and Nina.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Billy's remarkable life will be held 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma with interment to follow at Sallisaw City Cemetery in Sallisaw under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Billy Smith will be missed deeply, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
