Billy Don Poindexter

Billy Don Poindexter, 65, passed away on May 27, 2026. He was born in Stilwell, Oklahoma, on March 29, 1961 where, at age eight, he vowed to run away from home if his grandparents wouldn’t let him watch the first moon landing on TV. He’s remembered for his enthusiasm, his fierce intelligence, and his devotion to hard work and harder adventuring. Whether diving through the sky or in the sea, Bill made friends wherever he went.

He is preceded in death by his mother Irene (Cantrell) Poindexter and his father Bill Poindexter. He is survived by his wife Heather Frakes, his brother, Steven Poindexter, his sister, Pam (Poindexter) Young and her children, along with his daughters Nikki Poindexter, Heather Poindexter, Teela (Poindexter) Hollinhead, and his eight grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Marble City Cemetery in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 6, 2026, under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc. An additional memorial service will be held in Mt. Vernon, Washington at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at the Bethany Covenant Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the charity Food For The Poor in his memory.
