It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bertha Lea (Barnes) Farmer, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world on December 3, 2025, just one day shy of her 78th birthday. Bertha was born on December 4, 1947, in Northview community, Oklahoma, to Martha Irene (Asbill) Barnes and James Edward Barnes. Her life was defined by her deep love for family, her unwavering spirit, and her dedication to her community.
Bertha married the love of her life, Robert Dewayne Farmer, on June 19, 1965, in Shady Grove, Oklahoma. Together, they built a life filled with joy and laughter until his passing on March 25, 2004. Bertha's resilience and strength were remarkable. She retired from Weldon, Williams and Lick and continued to serve her community with passion, being an active member at Vision of the Way in Roland. She contributed her talents as a substitute teacher, embraced the joy of quilting with the Cozy Quilters, and dedicated her time to the Muldrow Library Board and MCCO.
Her legacy lives on through her loving family. Bertha is survived by her daughter, Sherri Bishop and her husband Brandon of Muldrow; her son, Eddie Farmer and his wife Dana of Muldrow; and her four grandchildren, who brought her immense happiness: Garrett Bishop and his wife Skylar of Muldrow, Blake Farmer and his wife Jackie of Fort Smith, AR, Crystal Morman of Colorado Springs, CO, and Hallea Cude and her husband Solomon of Muldrow. She also took great pride in her 11 great-grandchildren, Taven Farmer, Ezra Farmer, Harley Morman, Gabriella Morman, Aleah Smith, Amaya Bishop, Robert Layne Bishop, Ivy Cude, Rayme Cude, Archie Cude and Kallea Cude who were the light of her life.
Beloved sisters Kay Davis and her husband Vernon of Muldrow and Kim Brown of Fort Smith, AR, along with lifelong friends Martha Adams, Nancy Floyd, and LaVerne Harrison, will always cherish the beautiful memories they created with Bertha. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brother, Paul Edward Barnes.
A funeral service celebrating Bertha’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Vision of The Way in Roland, Oklahoma, with burial to follow at Northview Cemetery in Sallisaw, under the guidance of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
