Funeral service for Avery “Lucky” Wofford, 78 of Roland, Oklahoma will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Roland Hills Baptist Church in Roland, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery in Liberty, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
The Man, The Myth, The Legend known as Lucky Wofford from Liberty has left this earth. He was born on March 9, 1944 in Liberty, Oklahoma to Neoma C. (Blaylock) Wofford and Bertie Avery Wofford and passed away on February 4, 2023 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was married to Sherrye (Benge) Wofford on October 28, 1969 in Long, Oklahoma. Early in his life he was wild, crazy, and mean but then he got it together and spent 29 years at the same job with perfect attendance for 25 years. He was a hard working, story telling, humble, and kind man. After his retirement he came to know the Lord as his Savior and was baptized in faith. He then turned into Betty Crocker and spent his retirement years baking for the kids at church and helping take care of grandchildren.
Survivors are wife, Sherrye, of the home; six daughters, Elly Wofford-Fisher of Van Buren, AR, Sonja Shaffer and husband, Nick, of Chester, AR, Angie Murphy and husband, David, of Hartford, AR, Melanie Wofford of Roland, OK, April Wofford of Vian, OK and Amy Wofford and husband, Eddie, of Roland, OK; two sons, Anthony Wofford of Greenwood, AR and Dewayne Wofford and wife, Stephanie, of Muldrow, OK; 31 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren; one sister, Lana Kay Lamproe of Roland, OK; one sister-in-law, Julie Young of Arkoma, OK; and several other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Sherrye; one brother, Norwin Ray Wofford; and one son-in-law, Eddie Fisher.
Active Pallbearers will be Joseph Abdelaal, Kie Wofford, Tyler Myers, Devonte Wofford, Colton Lucky Looper and Trent Shaffer.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Eddie Martinez, Kevin Flurry, Justin Lewis, Mike Lewis, Ed O’Neal and Larry Edwards.
Viewing will be 10 AM – 8 PM Tuesday and 9 AM – 8 PM Wednesday at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Muldrow, OK where the family will greet 6 – 8 PM Wednesday.
