Arden Leon Bergquist, Jr., age 89, of Edmond, Oklahoma, and formerly of Sallisaw, passed away on October 3, 2025, in Edmond. Born on April 25, 1936, in Omaha, Nebraska, he was the son of Ruth Marion (Gleason) Bergquist and Arden Leon Bergquist, Sr.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, Arden dedicated his professional life to engineering, retiring from AOG. He cherished many special moments with his family, particularly with his beloved wife, Janet Sandra (Twist) Bergquist, whom he married on June 26, 1982, in Sallisaw.
Arden is survived by his devoted wife, Janet; three daughters, Stacey Enright of Oklahoma City, Karstina Poff and Shelly Winegartner, both of Colorado; along with a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also remembered by his two brothers, Jon Bergquist and Barry Bergquist, and numerous other relatives and friends.
Arden was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Arden Bergquist and Eddie Pitman.
A funeral service to honor Arden's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw. Following the service, burial will take place at Akins Cemetery, conducted under the care of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Active Pallbearers will be Mitch Enright, Jay Huska, Colby Gathers, Jim Sparks, and Larry Horn. Honorary Pallbearers will be Calvin Enright and Wendell Twist.
Viewing will be 2 - 8 PM Wednesday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw where the family will greet 6 - 8 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to an animal rescue of your choice.
Arden's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, as they celebrate a life well-lived.
