Amon H Wells, age 92, of Roland, Oklahoma, passed away on July 16, 2025. A funeral service honoring his life will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Roland Pentecostal Church in Roland, Oklahoma, with burial to follow at Roland City Cemetery, conducted under the care of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Born on September 28, 1932, in Liberty community, Oklahoma, Amon was the son of Cora Bell (Romines) Wells and James Riley Wells. He married the love of his life, Vera Arletta (Stoll) Wells, on May 24, 1955, in Poplar, California. Vera preceded him in death on March 13, 2023.
Amon was a proud veteran, serving as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He attended Liberty School near Roland, where he cultivated his lifelong interests in nature and outdoor activities. As an avid hunter and fisherman, he cherished the time spent in the great outdoors with his son, grandson, and son-in-law, never missing deer season. Amon worked at Oakley Smith, Ward’s Furniture, DeSoto and retired from Baldor after 20 years. He also had a passion for attending auctions, connecting with friends, and supporting his family through various events.
Family was central to Amon's life, and he loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren unconditionally. He often shared stories about his great-granddaughters, whom he affectionately referred to as "The Little Girls." His love extended to cheering on his grandchildren and nephews at football and basketball games, barrel races, and shodeos, always eager to support their endeavors.
Amon is survived by his daughter, Wendy Hall and her husband Carroll; their daughter, Amra Ramey and husband Larry and children Larriat Crober and husband Daniel, and Colt Ramey; and their daughter, Tarrah Cox and husband Travis and children, Tierney and Taryn Cox. He also leaves behind his son, William Wells and wife Cindy; step-children, Crystal Graper, Roger Guinn Jr., and Joseph Guinn; his sister, Sharon Walker and her son Stacey; his brother, Bob Wells and wife Pat; and a multitude of other family members and friends.
Amon was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vera; his parents; sister, Melba Burton and her husband Victor and their son Carl; his brother, J.R. Wells; adopted son, Gene Ross; and sister-in-law, Joy Wells.
Active pallbearers will be Larry Ramey, Colt Ramey, Travis Cox, Branson Wells, Spencer Wells, and Jaxon Wells. Honorary pallbearers include the gentlemen of "The House of Knowledge," Jerry and Jacky Brooks.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the viewing, which will take place from 10 AM to 8 PM on Monday at Roland Pentecostal Church, where the family will greet visitors from 6 PM to 8 PM.
Amon H Wells will be remembered for his passion for life, his unwavering love for his family, and his joyful spirit.
