Funeral Service for Alta L. (Copeland) Calhoun, 96 of Sallisaw, Oklahoma will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 4, 2023 at Bethel Baptist Church in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Sallisaw City Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

She was born on November 27, 1927 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma to Margie (Duvall) Copeland and J.S. Copeland and passed away on November 29, 2023 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. She was married to Evert B. “Sonny” Calhoun, Jr. on May 16, 1946 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on July 26, 2012. Mrs. Calhoun was a homemaker

Survivors are four daughters, Linda Jasna of Sallisaw, OK, Gail Kerr of Sallisaw, OK, Sherry Bradley and Rick of Sparks, NV and Cindy Oliver and Charles of Sallisaw, OK; one son, Evert Gary Calhoun of Sallisaw, OK; 12 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren; and several other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Michael Calhoun; one great-grandson; her parents and 11 brothers and sisters.

Active Pallbearers will be Michael Oliver, Jason Kerr, Sonny Bradley, Sonny Jasna, Colton Jasna and Steffan Jasna.
