Ada (Phelps) Ross

Funeral services for Ada (Phelps) Ross, aged 88, of Muldrow, Oklahoma, will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Copic Baptist Church in the Nicut community, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Seabolt Cemetery under the care of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Ada was born on November 14, 1937, in the Short community, Oklahoma, to Nannie Ruth (Vann) Phelps and Frank Claude Phelps. She passed away on June 16, 2026, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. On September 17, 1960, she married Sam Joseph Ross in Kansas City, Missouri.

Mrs. Ross worked as a telephone operator at a paper supply company before retiring from International Paper where she was a bookkeeper. She was a member of Short Baptist Church. Among her simple joys were sitting in her rocking chair and watching her favorite television shows.

She is lovingly survived by her husband, Sam Ross; her two daughters, Robin Ross of Muldrow, Oklahoma, and Shannon Ross of Kansas City, Missouri; as well as her beloved four-legged grandchildren, Brandy, Brutus, Pepper, Snickers, Brachs, Roxie, Remi, Ruck, Poppa, Nelson, Ginger Sue, Hika, and Hogo. She also leaves behind numerous other relatives and a host of friends who cherished her.

Ada was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Maureen Shaver, Joann Prewett, and Judy Fanning; and brothers Marvin, Manuel, Dorman, Bernell, and Otis.

Active pallbearers will be Danny Phelps, Beau Short, Coby Phelps, Darrin Phelps, Rodney Prewett, Mike Fanning, and Chris Waters. Honorary pallbearers will be Rance Shaver and Dale Phelps.

Family and friends may visit from 2:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Muldrow, with the family receiving guests from 7:00 to 8:00 PM.

Ada Ross’s life was a testament to devotion, family, and simple pleasures, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
